Problem
A droning noise came from the running gear, and ABS and parking sensor warnings were lit on the dashboard.
What we did
We replaced both front wheel bearings (SKF) and the front right ABS sensor (FEBI). We repaired the PDC wiring and fitted a tested used genuine sensor.
Result
The noise is gone, ABS and parking assist work without faults, and the car runs quietly and safely again.
Job details
The 2015 Ford Mondeo with its 2.0 litre diesel engine (110kw) is a spacious, comfortable car that’s ideal for long journeys. But when a droning noise appears in the running gear or warning messages light up on the instrument cluster (such as ABS or parking assist faults), driving pleasure and safety drop significantly. The owner came to GT Garage to have these faults found and fixed.
1. Diagnostics and inspection
Before ordering any parts or starting the repair, we precisely identified the causes:
- Suspension check: We confirmed that the noise heard while driving was caused by wear in both front wheel bearings.
- Computer diagnostics: By reading the control unit fault codes, we pinpointed problems in the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the front parking sensor (PDC) circuit.
2. Suspension repair: wheel bearing replacement
- To restore ride comfort and eliminate the noise and wheel play, we replaced both front wheel bearings.
- We fitted premium “SKF” bearings, which provide original equipment quality, strength and durability.
3. Restoring the electronic systems
- ABS system repair: We replaced the faulty front right ABS sensor with a reliable “FEBI” part. This fully restored the braking safety system’s functions.
- Parking sensor repair: We found physical damage both to one of the sensors and to its wiring. We repaired the damaged wires and fitted a tested used genuine parking sensor. This is a cost-effective and very reliable solution compared with cheap copies, which often work inaccurately.
