Clutch Element: In a manual transmission, the flywheel acts as one side of the clutch assembly that the clutch disc presses against, allowing the engine’s torque to be transmitted to the transmission.

Engine Balancing: Some flywheels are part of an engine balancing system. A properly balanced flywheel helps reduce engine vibration and ensures smoother operation.

Flywheels can be of different types and materials, depending on the type of vehicle and its application.
